Actuate BIRT is Certified for MySQL

Company Aims at Enterprise Market

Actuate Corporation has announced that Actuate BIRT, the commercial version of the Eclipse Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) project, is MySQL Network-Certified and a recommended reporting and analytics component of a MySQL Data Warehouse Scale-Out Solution Set. Actuate BIRT provides MySQL Network customers with the ability to cost-effectively deploy enterprise database driven reports to a wider audience. Companies can also easily meet the evolving business needs of a diverse set of users by building a customized, embedded report library.

Actuate BIRT will be demonstrated at LinuxWorld in booth #810.

Although the volume of data and the number of users who need access to enterprise data is steadily increasing, IT organizations continue to struggle with budget constraints. Many IT departments are evaluating alternative technologies to cost-effectively increase capacity, while ensuring customers, partners, and employees can reliably and easily access business information. The Actuate BIRT MySQL Network Certification makes it easier for companies to reduce the cost of scaling MySQL database applications and to easily add capacity to meet volume requirements, improve response time and availability of information.

"Companies using the unified software, support and services in MySQL Network are committed to reducing the time and cost associated with creating enterprise-grade database applications," said Zack Urlocker (pictured), vice president at MySQL AB. "With the certification of Actuate BIRT for MySQL Network and its integration in a MySQL Data Warehouse Scale-out Solution Set, MySQL customers can easily benefit from Actuate BIRT's low-cost business intelligence capabilities to gain operational insight from critical business data."

"There is tremendous synergy between MySQL Network and Actuate BIRT as both seek to enable large scale database driven applications world-wide," said Nobby Akiha, vice president of marketing for Actuate. "In addition, Actuate BIRT and MySQL Network both use an annual subscription model to provide indemnification, support and maintenance, which provides customers a cost effective alternative."
